About Us

About Kappa Delta

In 1897, four young women at State Female Normal School of Virginia (now Longwood University) joined together with a common vision — to create something “higher and nobler,” an organization that would empower women through friendship and high ideals. Over 125 years later, the sorority continues to live the dream of its founders by providing a lifelong experience for our members through support and sisterhood.

The Kappa Delta experience offers members the chance to leave their mark on the future and impact the lives of members and those in need around the world. Contributions to the Kappa Delta Foundation from alumnae, collegians and friends enable the sorority to further its philanthropic efforts, local community outreach programs, as well as scholarships and educational opportunities for members.

We have chosen to become Kappa Deltas because we believe that, in some way, all of us can be better together than each of us can be alone. That is the strength of Kappa Delta. Learn more about Kappa Delta Sorority and the Kappa Delta Foundation by visiting our national organization’s website.

About Sigma Pi

The Sigma Pi chapter of Kappa Delta was founded in 1923 at Albion College. Sigma Pi is celebrating 100 consecutive years in 2023! Sigma Pi is a small chapter of around forty amazing women. Although small, this chapter strives for greatness and works hard to uphold the high standards of Kappa Delta Sorority. Our chapter strives to be a home away from home for women from all backgrounds. Kappa Delta is all about confidence and Sigma Pi has no short of that. The women of Sigma Pi are leaders on campus, in the classroom, on sports teams, in student organizations, and in student government. Along with all of the campus involvement the women of Sigma Pi strive to help the greater community. Sigma Pi hosts Shamrock events to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse of America, works with girl scouts to build confidence among young women, works around the Albion community, and participates in other chapters' philanthropy events on campus. Sigma Pi is proud of its 100-year journey and as the years go on the sisterhood only becomes stronger and the outreach becomes greater.
